Loeb Lofts was conceived out of the desire to provide much-needed industrial co-working space to the Bronzeville community. Chicago has also been at the forefront of innovation in the industrial manufacturing space. Our building has a long history and most recently has been used as a warehouse for industrial machinery and equipment.
The owner of Loeb Lofts has been in the Bronzeville neighborhood since 1963 when family ownership acquired a large building on State Street after liquidating Bowman Dairy for Howard Dean of Dean Foods. The Wabash building was purchased to expand the footprint of the original State Street building.
Loeb Lofts was originally a bakery back at the turn of the 19th century, and the family business has stored machinery in this facility for over 30 years. This facility has been home to more than 10,000 machines including their storage and upkeep.
